
Euterpe Opera Theatre:
Founded in 1924, to provide performance opportunities for
singers in their initial stages of their professional careers,
this small opera theater company performs in English. This
theater company produces a recital series from Bellini to
Gershwin, improv to spirituals performed by some of Los Angeles'
finest vocal talents. On the campus of Pasadena City College in
Harbeson Hall, each recital is followed by a reception where you
can meet the musicians. Recent productions have included
Hayden's "Infidelity Foiled" in 1993, Mozart's "Zaide"
in 1994 and Mozart's "Impresario" and Pergolesi's
"La Serva Padrona" in 1995.

Los Angeles Opera:
Los Angeles Opera created a sensation with its debut
production of Verdi's Otello starring Placido Domingo in October
of 1986. With thirteen seasons under their belt the company has
grown to international stature, presenting eight operas in a
season that runs from September through June with a subscriber
base of over 16,000 season ticket holders. The Los Angeles Opera
brings some of the world's finest artists to Los Angeles with
their productions of standard repertory as well as new and
rarely staged operas. The LA Opera traces its roots back to
1948, then called the Los Angeles Civic Grand Opera, presented a
performance of Rigoletto in a church hall in Beverly Hills. In
1964 the company performed its first opera at the Dorothy
