
Exposition Park
in downtown Los Angeles serves as an educational and
recreational area for all its visitors. Museums, sports venues,
even a beautiful rose garden are all located in Exposition Park,
making it an especially good place to spend the whole day.
Learn about
biological sciences, mathematics, and physics the fun way with
four large exhibit areas filled with interactive displays at the
California Science Center, or watch a larger than life 3D movie
at its IMAX Theater. Find out about the rich African American
heritage of California at the California African American
Museum, or take the whole family to enjoy a free program at the
Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County.
Exposition Park
is also home to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, site of the
Olympics in 1932 and 1984, and home to the USC Trojan football
team. Next to the Memorial Coliseum is the LA Sports Arena,
former venue for the Los Angeles Clippers. The annual Los
Angeles Marathon’s route courses around Exposition Park, and
the LA Marathon’s Acura LA Bike Tour begins and ends in
Exposition Park.
Take a walk
through the Exposition Park Rose Gardens, with acres of roses of
many different varieties designed in a formal setting, or have
an outdoor picnic in the picnic area.
Exposition Park
is located in downtown Los Angeles, accessible from the Harbor
Freeway (the 110). It is bordered on each side Martin Luther
King Jr. Blvd., Menlo Ave., Exposition Drive, and Figueroa
Street. Entrance to Exposition Park is about $5 for cars, $10
for bigger vehicles.
