Looking like a leftover from a recent science fiction movie, the
award winning Encounter Restaurant is located in the center of the
airport complex. LAX serves more than 80 passenger airlines so be
aware that traffic is brisk and the parking lots are sometimes
full to capacity.
Ground transportation is plentiful.
Computer terminals throughout LAX provide airport and
transportation information that can be printed out. These
terminals, known as QuickAID kiosks, are convenient and handy when
you want to know what ground transportation will cost. The
individual operators of the services sell tickets for
transportation.
For door-to-to shuttle vans, hotel
or rental car courtesy vans wait on the lower/arrival level
islands in front of each terminal under the sign designating the
particular transportation desired: Van, LAX Shuttle, Bus Stop or
Courtesy Tram. All major car rental companies are represented like
Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, National, Hertz, and
Thrifty. Taxis can be found curbside on the lower level from the
